Maxell Extends Popular DVD Camcorder Media Line With Added Capacity Discs

New media makes recording memories more convenient

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- CES Booth: Central 11906 -- Maxell Corporation of America has introduced four new DVD Camcorder media products that offer consumers added capacity, extending its industry-leading camcorder media line. Each of the new media is available in Maxell's consumer-friendly packaging that is easy to read and understand.

The new Maxell DVD Camcorder media include DVD-R DS and DVD-RW DS double- sided discs, DVD-R DL dual layer discs and DVD+R DL double layer discs.

"As the DVD Camcorder format continues to increase in popularity, consumers are demanding more capacity in DVD Camcorder media so they can spend more time recording memories and less time switching media," said Don Patrican, executive vice president of Maxell. "Our new introductions accommodate the newest hardware on the market and give consumers more choice."

Maxell's new DVD-R DS double sided disc is write-once media designed for one-time recording in all DVD-R camcorders, computer drives and video recorders and will play back on compatible DVD recorder/players and DVD-ROM drives. With a total capacity of 2.8 GB (1.4 GB per side), Maxell's DVD-R DS provides 60 minutes of recording time (30 minutes per side).

The new DVD-RW DS from Maxell provides the same specifications in a rewritable format.

The new Maxell DVD-R DL single-sided dual layer discs provide consumers with 54 minutes of recording and playback time from a capacity of 2.6 GB with no need to flip the disc. They are compatible with DVD-R camcorders, recorders/players and DVD-ROM drives.

The DVD+R DL double layer discs are compatible with +R camcorders, recorder/players and DVD-ROM drives and provide 55 minutes of record and playback time. Pricing has not been released as of this post.
